What started as a simple idea grew into a place to eat well, rest deeply, and slow down for a while. MacTaverne is built around shared tables, familiar faces, and the kind of hospitality that feels natural, not forced.

    Craig & Lynne are the reason MacTaverne exists. Craig brings decades of business experience and steady guidance, while Lynne’s eye for house flipping and design shaped the space and feel from the ground up. Together, they laid the foundation — practical, thoughtful, and family-first.

    • MacTaverne is located in the heart of Val-David, directly on the P’tit Train du Nord trail—an ideal base for cycling, skiing, hiking, and village wandering.

  • Approximately one hour by car (traffic depending). Close enough for a spontaneous escape, far enough to feel like you’ve properly left the city.

  • Yes — free on-site parking is available for overnight guests. On busy days, on-site parking may be limited. Feel free to pull up to unload your bags first, then park at Parc Léonidas-Dufresne or Parc des Amoureux, both located just a short one-minute walk away.

  • Yes. We offer secure bike storage for guests cycling the P’tit Train du Nord.
    Bikes are not permitted inside guest rooms or indoor common areas.

  • MacTaverne is a small boutique inn with 7 guest rooms, each designed to be cozy, simple, and comfortable.

  • Yes — all rooms have private en-suite bathrooms.

  • Check-in: 4:00 PM Arriving earlier? Let us know, rooms are sometimes ready ahead of time and we’ll always do our best to accommodate.

  • Yes — but only in Room 7, and only for well-trained dogs.

    All cancellation deadlines are based on the local time at MacTaverne (Val-David).

MacTaverne — Standard Terms & Conditions

MacTaverne is a small, family-run pub and boutique inn. We aim to keep things warm, relaxed, and respectful for everyone. By confirming a reservation, you agree to the following terms.

General Stay Policies

  • No parties or gatherings of any kind are permitted in guest rooms.

  • The number of occupants must match the reservation. Additional occupants may be asked to leave.

  • Reservations are non-transferable.

  • Check-in: 4:00 PM

  • Check-out: 11:00 AM

  • A valid government-issued photo ID is required at check-in.

  • The Property reserves the right to refuse service or remove guests whose conduct is unsafe, disruptive, discriminatory, or disrespectful to staff or other guests.

Quiet Hours & Pub Environment

  • MacTaverne is both a restaurant/pub and an inn.

  • The restaurant typically closes around 11:00 PM.

  • Quiet hours begin at 11:00 PM (23:00) in guest rooms.

  • Reasonable ambient noise related to restaurant operations may occur during service hours.

  • Refund requests related to normal pub or restaurant activity cannot be accommodated.

Dogs & Pet Policy (Important)

  • Dogs are permitted only in Room 7 and must be well trained.

  • Room 7 must be specifically requested, and guests must notify us in advance.

  • A $60 cleaning fee per stay (not per night) applies.

  • Reservations arriving with a dog without prior notice may be cancelled at the Property’s discretion.

  • Dogs are not permitted in the pub or restaurant at any time. (EXCEPT ON THE TERRASSE)

Smoking & Cannabis

  • Smoking or vaping of any substance, including cannabis, is strictly prohibited inside the building.

  • Violations will result in a cleaning and remediation fee charged to the card on file.

Cleanliness, Damage & Responsibility

  • Guests are expected to maintain reasonable cleanliness during their stay.

  • Any damage, excessive cleaning, or missing items beyond normal wear may result in additional charges.

  • Guests are responsible for their personal belongings. MacTaverne is not liable for lost or stolen items.

Lost & Found

  • Lost items are logged and stored for a limited time.

  • Perishable items are disposed of at the end of the day.

  • Items may be picked up with valid ID or shipped at the guest’s expense.

  • We make reasonable efforts to assist but cannot guarantee long-term storage.

Allergies & Sensitivities

Guests are responsible for informing management prior to arrival of any allergies or sensitivities, including food, cleaning products, or materials.

Cancellation & Deposit Policy

A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to confirm your reservation.

  • Cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance:
    Your deposit is fully refundable.

  • Cancellations made within 24 hours of arrival:
