Is breakfast included?

Yes, breakfast is included with every stay, served from 8 to 10 AM in the pub's dining room. The menu varies by season.

Yes, but only in one designated room, and only for well-trained dogs. You must notify us in advance if a dog is coming, and that room must be specifically requested. $60 cleaning fee per stay (not per night). Dogs are not permitted in the pub or restaurant. Guests arriving with a dog without prior notice may have their reservation cancelled.

Yes, free on-site parking for overnight guests. On busy days, on-site parking may be limited. Feel free to pull up to unload your bags, then park at Parc Léonidas-Dufresne or Parc des Amoureux, both a short one-minute walk away.

Do you have bike storage?

Yes. We offer a secure, locked bike room for guests cycling the P'tit Train du Nord. Bikes are not permitted inside guest rooms or indoor common areas.

Do I have to leave to find dinner?

Nope. Our pub and restaurant are on site. Eat well, have a pint, then head upstairs and sleep it off like a champion.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes. Our digital gift cards are sold online through Treater (treater.co), from $25 to $500. They can be used at MacTaverne and at Treater's other partner restaurants. Dinner, a pint, a night at the auberge: the person you're treating gets to pick.

What is the cancellation and deposit policy?

A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to confirm your reservation. Cancellations more than 48 hours before arrival: deposit fully refundable. Cancellations within 24 hours of arrival: 50% of the deposit retained. Same-day cancellations or no-shows: one night's stay charged in full. All deadlines based on local time at MacTaverne (Val-David).

Can you hear the pub from the rooms in the evening?

MacTaverne is both a pub-restaurant and an inn. Some ambient sound is part of the experience during service hours. The restaurant typically closes around 11 PM, and quiet hours in the rooms begin at 11 PM (23:00).

Is smoking or vaping allowed?

No. Smoking or vaping, including cannabis, is strictly prohibited inside the building. Violations result in a cleaning and remediation fee charged to the card on file.

We've made the choice not to host weddings. Weddings require a kind of planning and service that isn't ours. What we love and do best: intimate private celebrations, milestone birthday dinners, corporate retreats, family reunions, retirement parties.

Inn with twin beds for two travellers?

Yes. At MacTaverne we have a room with two single beds, ideal for two friends travelling together, two siblings, or a parent with a child. Private bathroom, and breakfast is included.

Is MacTaverne open for lunch?

The pub is open for lunch service Saturday (11:30 AM to 10 PM) and Sunday (11:30 AM to 9:30 PM). Monday through Friday we open only for dinner (5 PM to 10 PM). The terrasse follows the same hours in season.

We serve pub food from 11:30 AM on Saturday and Sunday: scotch eggs, fish & chips, charcuterie, salads. Not a traditional eggs-benedict brunch, but a very good long lunch after a walk on Le P'tit Train du Nord.
