Location & Getting Here

Where is MacTaverne located?
We’re in the heart of Val-David, directly on the P’tit Train du Nord trail—an easy base for cycling, skiing, hiking, and village wandering.

How far are you from Montréal?
Roughly about an hour by car (traffic depending). Close enough for a last-minute getaway, far enough to feel like you left the city behind.

Is parking available?
Yes — we offer free on-site parking for overnight guests.

Do you have bike storage?
Yes — we have a secure bike locker for guests. Bikes are not permitted inside rooms or indoor common areas.

Rooms & Your Stay

How many rooms do you have?
MacTaverne is a small boutique inn with 7 rooms, each designed to be cozy, simple, and comfortable.

Do rooms have private bathrooms?
Yes — every room has its own en-suite bathroom.

What time is check-in and check-out?

  • Check-in: 4:00 PM
    Arriving earlier? Ask us — rooms are sometimes ready ahead of time and we’ll always do our best to accommodate.

  • Check-out: 11:00 AM

Is breakfast included?
Yes — breakfast is included with every stay. What’s served may vary from day to day depending on what’s being prepared that morning, and we reserve the right to adjust breakfast offerings.

Is MacTaverne quiet at night?
MacTaverne is both a pub/restaurant and an inn. Some ambient sound can be part of the experience during service hours. The restaurant typically closes around 11:00 PM, and quiet hours begin at 11:00 PM (23:00).

Do you have Wi-Fi?
Yes — complimentary Wi-Fi is available for guests.

Dogs (Important)

Do you allow dogs?
Yes — but only in Room 7, and only for well-trained dogs.

Here’s how it works:

  • Room 7 must be specifically requested

  • You must tell us in advance that a dog is coming

  • $60 cleaning fee per stay (not per night)

  • If a guest arrives with a dog without prior notice, we reserve the right to cancel the reservation

  • No dogs are permitted in the restaurant or pub

Dining & The Pub

Do I have to leave to find dinner?
Nope — our pub and restaurant are on site. Come down for a proper meal, a pint, and then head upstairs to sleep it off like a champion.

Is the pub open to non-guests?
Yes — locals and visitors are always welcome.

Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Often, yes. The best move is to let us know ahead of time so the kitchen can guide you properly.

Booking & Policies

How do I book a room?
The best way is directly through our website (live availability, direct support, and the smoothest communication).

Can I book for one night?
Absolutely. Stay one night or make a weekend of it — both are welcome here.

What’s your cancellation policy?
Your exact cancellation/deposit terms are shown clearly at the time of booking and in your confirmation email (since they can vary by rate/season). If you’re unsure, contact us and we’ll help.

MacTaverne — Standard Terms & Conditions

MacTaverne is a small, family-run pub and boutique inn. We do our best to keep things warm, relaxed, and respectful for everyone. By confirming a reservation, you agree to the following terms.

General Stay Policies

  • No parties or gatherings of any kind are permitted in guest rooms.
    The number of occupants must match the reservation. The Property reserves the right to ask additional occupants to leave.

  • Reservations are non-transferable.

  • Check-in: 3:00 PM

  • Check-out: 11:00 AM

  • Guests must present a valid government-issued photo ID upon arrival.

  • The Property reserves the right to refuse service or remove guests whose conduct is unsafe, disruptive, discriminatory, or disrespectful to staff or other guests.

Quiet Hours & Pub Environment

MacTaverne is both a restaurant/pub and an inn.

  • The restaurant typically closes before 11:00 PM.

  • Quiet hours begin at 11:00 PM (23:00) in guest rooms.

  • Reasonable ambient noise related to restaurant operations may occur during service hours.

  • Requests for refunds related to normal pub or restaurant activity will not be honored.

Dogs & Pet Policy (Important)

  • Dogs are permitted only in Room 7, and only if well trained.

  • Room 7 must be specifically requested, and guests must notify us in advance if they are traveling with a dog.

  • A $60 cleaning fee per stay (not per night) applies for dogs.

  • Reservations arriving with a dog without prior notice may be cancelled at the Property’s discretion.

  • Dogs are not permitted in the restaurant or pub at any time.

Smoking & Cannabis

  • Smoking or vaping of any substance, including cannabis, is strictly prohibited inside the building.

  • Violations will result in a cleaning and remediation fee charged to the card on file.

Cleanliness, Damage & Responsibility

  • Guests are expected to maintain reasonable cleanliness and hygiene during their stay.

  • Any damage, excessive cleaning, or missing items beyond normal wear may result in additional charges.

  • Guests are responsible for their personal belongings.
    MacTaverne is not liable for lost, stolen, or misplaced items.

Lost & Found

  • Lost items found on the premises are logged and stored for a limited time.

  • Perishable items are disposed of at the end of the day.

  • Claimed items may be picked up with valid ID or shipped at the guest’s expense.

  • We will make reasonable efforts to assist, but cannot guarantee long-term storage.

Allergies & Sensitivities

  • Guests are responsible for informing management prior to arrival of any allergies or sensitivities, including (but not limited to) food, cleaning products, or materials.

No-Show & Billing

  • In the event of a no-show, one night’s room charge (including applicable taxes) will be charged to the card on file, unless otherwise stated in your booking conditions.

  • If there is a discrepancy between a quoted offer and the final bill, the final bill prevails.

Special Offers & Cancellations

  • Special rates, offers, or promotions may carry specific conditions that override standard terms.

  • Cancellation and deposit policies are those confirmed at the time of booking.

Liability & Force Majeure

MacTaverne is not responsible for disruptions, losses, or inconveniences caused by events beyond our control, including but not limited to weather events, power outages, government regulations, emergencies, or maintenance issues.

Updates to These Terms

  • These terms may be updated from time to time.
    The most current version will always be posted on our website.
